Based in California, USA, Original S.W.A.T.® engineers tactical performance footwear.
We realize that your boots are integral to the success and safety of whatever your daily mission may be. For this reason, we focus solely on crafting boots of the highest value and performance for uniformed, safety, and service professionals.
Original S.W.A.T. boots are trusted by operators and law enforcement professionals the world over. Years of consistent quality boots lead to a unique relationship of mutual respect between the manufacturer and end users.
It is our passion and pride in our work that drives Original S.W.A.T. to not only deliver the safest, highest-performing, and most comfortable product, but to also offer second-to-none service to our customers. We believe it is our duty to be the most valuable and trusted uniform footwear company in the world.
When it comes to slip resistance, Original S.W.A.T. exceeds the standards like none other. These boots are designed to keep you safe and in control even in adverse environmental conditions. Outsoles are rated for slip resistance using the James Test, with a benchmark rating of 0.7 on dry surfaces and 0.4 on wet surfaces. OSWAT boots pass this ASTM F489-96 standard, and even well exceed the safety requirements.
AT ORIGINAL S.W.A.T.® WE HAVE TWO GOALS:
1. Build the best tactical footwear in the world.
2. Provide exceptional customer service
When we founded our company back in 1999, we set out to make a better boot for Law Enforcement, Military, EMT's and others who work for a living. We focus completely on tactical footwear for people who depend on their boots every day. Most people would not or could not do your job. We understand that our customers do not work in an office, but in the desert of Afghanistan, the border near Nogales and every back alley, correctional institution, and Main Street. Yours is the kind of work that demands an elite group to be on their feet for 10, 12, even 14 hours a shift. We have designed and engineered our tactical footwear to help you perform on the job while providing the all-day comfort and support that you need. Original S.W.A.T. has become known for our legendary combination of performance and comfort.
At Original S.W.A.T. we are constantly researching how we can improve our tactical footwear. We test our boots in the lab and in the field. We listen to our customers' feedback. We analyze any returned boots. Every day we are engaged in a continuous improvement cycle. We are constantly learning how to make our tactical footwear last longer and perform better. Our relentless passion that drives us here at Original S.W.A.T. is to be your favorite pair of boots.
We understand we are in a very competitive industry. A quick Google search will turn up dozens of "Service" boot suppliers who started out making something other than tactical footwear: a major handgun company, a basketball shoe company, a major tactical apparel company, a very famous running shoe company and even arguably one of the best eyewear companies in the world. Now they are making boots to sell to tactical and military operators. We respectfully disagree with this approach. We know tactical footwear. That is all we do, and we believe we do it better than anybody. We believe that having a single mission, a single focus allows us to have a significant advantage over our competitors. All of our resources are aimed squarely at making the best tactical footwear on the planet. Part of what makes our boots the best on the planet is that we respect the value of your hard earned money. We meet the demands of your job and your wallet. We know this is what you expect, and we will not let you down.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our site and learn a little more about Original S.W.A.T. footwear. If you are already a customer, we thank you for your business. If you have never worn a pair of our boots, we invite you to find out why so many of our customers won't wear anything else. Please send us a note telling us what your favorite SWAT boot is. Until then, be safe and thank you very much.
Tactical Performance Matters
This is more than just a tagline to us. It is our most important core value. We know that your job requires more of your boots than of any other part of your uniform. That is why we design and engineer Original S.W.A.T.® boots to meet your demands. We will go TOE to TOE with any other boot in the market to prove that our boots are the leaders in performance, quality and value.
The Last Matters
The last is the molded foot form around which a boot is designed and built. The last determines the available space inside the boot and contributes significantly to the fit and comfort of the boot. All Original S.W.A.T.® footwear is made on the same boot last. Each company uses its own last and, therefore, all boots fit differently. Our last was developed using the most modern computer-aided-design technology. This modern approach has enabled us to most accurately reflect the needs of today’s end user. Some products that are offered by older, more traditional manufacturers are using lasts that have not changed since the 1940′s. Since that time, the weight and foot shape of the average person has changed significantly. To provide the correct level of comfort and support, the last needs to be of a modern shape and design.
The Weight Matters
Lose 18,000 pounds in A DAY. You can actually have energy when you get home after a shift! For every 1 ounce more that a pair of boots weighs, that equates to carrying an extra 625 pounds around for the day. That is 625 more pounds on the ankles, knees, shins, calves and lower back. The Danner Acadia weighs 30 oz’s more than our Chase 9” Tactical and that means over 10,000 steps (about 5 miles) the user has carried an additional 18,750 pounds.
“To improve performance in the athletic sphere, footwear needs to be as light as possible, without sacrificing its functional integrity.”
-Sebastian Coe, Olympic Gold Medalist
The Midsole Matters
In a standing position, 50% of our weight is on the heel; this is increased by a factor of 3 or 4 when walking or running. Shock absorbing materials can, therefore, play a big part in preventing fatigue and injury. There are several types of materials that can be used for shock absorption. We currently use two types, compression molded EVA and air. Compression Molded EVA is an inch of closed cell foam-injected under pressure. This by far is the most durable and effective material that we use for shock absorption. It does not hold memory and gives the wearer total foot support. This cushioning system is used in many different black boots as well as athletic shoes.
Boarding Lasting Matters
Support comes from a riveted sandwich lasting board that contains a steel or synthetic shank, providing both torsional stability and arch support, which are important where foot strike angles are uneven and extra weight is being carried (duty belt, vest, helmet, etc.). A removable contour molded orthotic completes the support process, ensuring that the smaller muscles of the foot do no have to work excessively under extreme performance conditions.
Quality Materials Matters
Laces, Metal Hardware and Zippers Functionally, the lacing system provides the last step in ensuring the foot is correctly seated and stable. Flat laces are not quite as convenient as round but are far superior in regard to performance – particularly slippage. “ Speed lace” metal hardware is most useful in the top 4 or 5 eyelets after the bottom eyelets have been cinched in place using a “locking” eyelet. 5mm (tooth size) zippers from YKK® more than meet the burst strength requirement and have good flexibility. The 10mm tooth is less flexible and prone to snapping under pressure.
The Outsole Matters
Where the rubber hits the road...literally. Outsole performance is not overlooked at Original S.W.A.T.® We designed and engineered outsoles that provide outstanding traction and durability. Our newest models in the Chase series may have the highest performing outsole compound for their price in the market.
